After reading
Leticia Adam’s blog, “Post Election
Thoughts From an Tiny Bit of the Latino Vote” it became clear that they’re
real issues going on outside of our own lives. Most people thinking of social
barriers as if there were only two colors to be discussed, white and black. The
problem is that the majority overlooks the discrimination of all other races as
well as ageism. I agree with what Adam’s said about the GOP and how they viewed
the Latino’s. To be depicted as something lesser than what you think of yourself
is one of the main causes to racism. Most people I know talk about Caucasian’s
as if they were as dumb as a crack head. All of that talk stems off of jealousy,
envy and anger that has been delivered to us a whole. When the government of
anyone decides to talk down on its citizens, they should be prepared for the
consequences that the word of mouth has to offer.

How not to be President
After reading a colleagues work I discovered that I could
not become the next president. I am a below middle class, black, woman and
regretfully have done some stuff I’m not proud of. I’m pretty sure if I had $1.25 billion I could pay off some
debt, clear my name, and run a presidential campaign. My colleague did a great
job with having factual evidence and still maintaining a comic tone. She gives
personal experience which shows character and style. Her ability to relate to
the average “Jane” causes one to forget about social status and more about the
cause. The statistics of the average US income being $50,000 is a slap in the
average Joe’s face. If that was so called true then there shouldn’t be a 47%
that Romney pointed out. I can at least say that I have had more than $1000 in
my bank account, but that was including the school loans. That doesn’t count
for anything seeing how I eventually have to pay that back. Majority of the Americans
I know live from paycheck to paycheck; just hoping they can make it. If the
government would give real hope to its citizens then in return I’m sure we
would give back to it. The rhetorical question that is asked in her blog is a
great writing tool for expressive writing. I enjoyed her blog and all the
content that she had in it. It was influencing and persuasive all in one.

Romnesia
In Crooks and Liars, Karoli gave
her views on Obamas speech in Virginia to the woman voters. She starts by
giving kudos to Obama for his creative tactic to get the woman voters reeled
in. The president led to believe Romney is sick and the disease is Romnesia.
Since most of us have dealt with women we all know that women tend to put a
name on everything. Examples: pet names for her significant other. This
suggests that our president knew what he was doing. He appealed to our feminine
side whereas just talking politics and not relating to us as a gender. Obama
then goes on to tell what the symptoms are for Romensia, "If you say you’ll protect a woman’s right to choose, but you stand up at a primary debateand said that you’d be “delighted” to sign a law outlawing that right to choosein all cases– man, you’ve definitely got Romnesia.
This was a promising blow to Romney showing
Obamas versatile attacks. Karoli if being a male or female, didn't say much
about the speech. For one to be a accurate writer you have to be able to engage
your audience with your own work. Obama has been doing this for a long time and
knows the ends and outs on how to please and how to appeal. His slogan four
years ago proves that, Change! It would have been nice to hear something
original from the writer and not just a two bit summary of what we already
heard. He/she instead stood back and let it talk for itself, proving to be as
he/she summarized Perfect Pitch!Thursday, October 4, 2012
Guerilla Tactic
After reading an opinion commentary on the first
presidential debate, I was worried. A college professor named Jeremy D. Mayer
commented on how flawed Obama's tactics were in the debate. He said Romney came
with "articulate brief attacks and points that were largely
substantive." Obama on the other hand never tried to attack Romney but
used a subtle approach leaning towards his already supporters. There was
question as to why didn't Obama use what Ted Kennedy said about Romney being
multiple choice towards abortion. Obama could have been a power house using
Romney’s contradictory statements against him such as; the 47% people, tax cuts
etc. Although this seemed like an easy win debate for Obama, I believe he knew
exactly what he was doing. People always say slow and steady wins the race! The
author even took it as far as criticizing whoever instructed the president in
making this more calm approach. Professor Mayer’s specific job is teaching Public
Policy so I’m sure he knows his facts. That still raises question on where he
stands in this election. I'm not sure if he's pro Obama or not. His arguments
sounded more like disappointment toward Obama and not exactly excited for
Romney either. His commentary sounded like he was mainly talking to the public
in general. If he was in the position of being potentially re-elected, I’m sure
he would agree that arguing all the time is only going to label you a bigamist.
At the end of the article he did include that there were still two more debates
to go and Obama could make a comeback. He added that the same could go for Romney
as well. His statement was sound but it didn’t sway me on my own opinion. It
however, irritated me by not understanding guerilla tactics. If one could hide
and wait for the kill versus being seen and killed. I would just hide and then
strike!

Chick-fil-A
I was reading the uproar new news on Chick-fil-A and their
retraction on their policy. On August 1, 2012 the fast food chain held an
Appreciation Day towards people against same-sex-marriages, and homosexuals. This
no doubtingly set a new sales record which the company was excited about; not
realizing the Northern states would affect them later. They were sound in their
beliefs holding true to their biblical beliefs against same-sex marriages. In
2010, they also gave nearly 2 million dollars to anti-gay groups, which is
another reason why they are battling their new statement. The community of
homosexuals and those who are an advocate for them were extremely upset, that a
place to get food was also a condescending establishment against the Nation's
rights. Knowing that Chick-fil-A publicized their views problem cost them more
money than they thought. They decided to "cave in" and say they will
no longer be giving money to anti-gay groups and not engage in social/political
disputes over it. Understanding how the world works right now he definitely
knew he had to change his views and add that Chick-fil-A goals are "to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect â?? regardless of theirbelief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender". What they have decided
to do is not a heart-felt change but something to advertise to the gay
community that their money is acceptable no matter what he (President of C, F,
A Dan Cathy) feels. I understand their reasoning but that cost them more money by retracting their statement forcing Christians to feel like they cant ever win a civil battle.

Truth behind the Matter
The presidential election this year is the talk of the new age. Many people are referring to it as the Carter vs. Reagan election. Seeing how Carter was blamed for the inflation, gas pricing and unemployment. Obama was blamed for gas pricing and more, but it seems to me that every president is blamed for something they cant really control. Romney isn't promising to bring down the gas prices but says Obama is the cause for not making America use the energy we have. How can many problems created and escalated down through the years be one mans downfall? If we really want to point the finger of blame lets talk about Bush's term. Misleading the American People and Members of Congress to Believe Iraq Possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction, to Manufacture a False Case for War. There's even a petition going forth to convict Bush and Cheney, if that is truly the case lets try to convict every president that's ever held an office and convict all of them. The world's failing era is to know surprise if you want to bring religion in it you can say former scholastics prophesied these things. Now to ones who believe that Romney is going to be our new president you have to look at all aspects and compare should America really be fighting each other over simple stuff, or come together and help the Nation while there's still a chance.
